Frequently Asked Questions
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer a flexible 24-hour notice policy. If you notify us at least 24 hours before your scheduled time, you can choose to either reschedule the session (subject to availability) or skip the lesson for that week (with your paid balance carried forward and credited to your next invoice). Any late cancellations under 24 hours, no-shows, or arriving over 15 minutes late without prior notice will be forfeited and are non-refundable.

What is your policy on no-shows?
If you do not show up for a scheduled lesson without prior notice, the session will be considered completed and no refund will be provided. Please inform us in advance if you cannot attend.
Can I take a break or pause my lessons?
Absolutely! If you plan to take a break for a certain period, please inform us before your next invoice is issued. We will adjust your fees accordingly.
Do you offer in-person lessons?
Currently, all of our lessons are conducted 100% online via Google Meet. This allows us to have highly focused, interactive sessions with screen-sharing and flexible scheduling, no matter where you are in Australia!
Do I need to buy textbooks?
For general beginners, we primarily use the GENKI textbook. I will provide worksheets and slides on screen, but I highly recommend purchasing your own copy for self-study.
For intermediate learners and above, I will prepare customised materials tailored to your specific goals, or I may recommend a specific textbook for you to purchase if it best suits your learning style.
Have specific, short-term goals? If you just want to learn survival phrases for a trip to Japan, prepare for a school exchange program, or practice for a business meeting, you don't need a textbook! I will create and provide 100% customised materials tailored exactly to your needs.
How can I contact Nihongo Journey / Adelaide Nihongo Community?
You can reach us through email at info@adelaide-nihongocommunity.com.au. We are here to assist you with any inquiries or to help you book a trial lesson.
How and when do I pay for my lessons?
All lessons require upfront payment. We will email you an invoice for your lesson plan with a secure link to pay online via credit card. Please note that all payments are processed in Australian Dollars (AUD). Payment must be completed by the due date mentioned on the invoice. To be fair to all learners, please note that we cannot guarantee your regular time slot if payment is delayed beyond the due date.
